Homework at Sea

Completed trip · Disney Cruise Line · Adam + Michael · Sep 2026

In September 2026, Michael and I boarded the Disney Treasure at Port Canaveral — not as a break from the work, but as part of it. The Treasure is a Wish-class ship, and it's a ship I put clients on constantly. Deck plans and training videos only go so far. I wanted the notes that only come from living on her for a week: how the stateroom storage actually works, which venues fill up by nine, where the quiet corners hide on a sea day. Michael and I are repeat Disney Cruise Line sailors and DVC members, and a new ship still had plenty to teach.

The operator's touch: I treated the sailing like an inspection with better food. Notes every day — verandah sightlines, the split-bathroom layout in practice, dinner pacing across the rotational restaurants, the adults-only decks at peak hour. When a client asks whether a Wish-class stateroom works for two adults and a week of luggage, the answer now comes from having slept in one, not from a brochure. That's the standard I hold the recommendations to: if I sell it, I've stood in it.
